New Music Wednesday: Electro Anthems!

Good music makes you want to move. Period. Just like we constantly update our workouts to make our mind and body respond to exercise, we have to periodically update our music. It’s the fuel… the bassline of our workout.

I’m a group fitness instructor and it always shocks me how two people can do the exact same workout in my class, yet get opposite results. One is dripping wet, smiling and feeling invigorated; the other is doing half the effort yet expecting the maximum benefit, and giving me a “your-workout-sucks” glare. The difference is personal effort. Personal effort affects how high you raise your arm, how high you jump and how much weight you think you can lift. It also determines if you’re wasting your time - or on your way to achieving some exciting new fitness goals. Personal effort comes from your attitude, yes, but also the motivational tools you use to power your workout. Music can affect both of those - especially when you workout on your own. Without a physical trainer/instructor to literally judge every move you make, that deep-down drive to PUSH harder… that personal effort… is largely influenced by your choice of music.

This week’s album features a theme that is so incredibly congruent with “driving” people to workout harder… it seems too good to be true. The recipe is simple: give people lyrics they can sing along to or follow along with… and lay those lyrics over brand-new, never-heard-before sounds to create a completely new experience. You’ll hear songs you’ll recognize (remixed), like David Bowie’s “Let’s Dance”, Abba’s classic “Momma Mia” and Black-eyed Peas “Gettin’ Over You”… and songs you’ve never heard (but will instantly love) like “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit” and “Let Me Think About It”.

“Make It Pop! Electro Anthems” is stocked with fun lyrics, heavy bass lines and edgy sounds to lift up, inspire and heighten your next workout to “runner’s high” levels (even when you’re not running ;).

Take a listen!#keepingitfresh
